Connections

Connect Slack so judge actions, Issues, Scheduled Tasks and the Slack Agent can post to your workspace.

Connections are set once per organization in Settings, then Connections. Every project in the organization uses them.

Slack

One Slack workspace per organization carries every Slack message Judgment sends: judge action alerts, Issues notifications, Scheduled Task results, and replies from the Slack Agent.

Connect a workspace

You need the Admin or Owner role in Judgment, and permission to install apps in the Slack workspace.

  1. Open Settings, then Connections.
  2. In the Slack row, select Connect.
  3. Approve the Judgment app in Slack for the workspace you want.
  4. Back in Judgment, check that Slack shows Connected.

Connecting a workspace doesn’t send anything on its own. Each workflow picks its channels:

Workflow Where you pick channels
Judge actions The judge’s Slack action.
Issues The notification settings for issue detection.
Scheduled Tasks Delivery, then Post to Slack, in the task. It needs at least one channel. Completed runs post whether they start on the schedule or from Run.
Slack Agent Mention @Judgment in a channel or send it a direct message. The Slack Agent is turned on per organization; contact support to turn it on.

Slack Agent replies

If the Slack Agent is turned on for your organization and Slack is connected, the Slack row has a Require a mention in channel threads switch. Admins and Owners can turn it on or off. Without the Slack Agent, the switch doesn’t appear.

Switch Replies the agent answers in its channel threads
On Only replies where someone mentions @Judgment
Off Every reply

Direct messages never need a mention.

Disconnect or switch workspaces

An Admin or Owner can select Disconnect in the Slack row. This stops Slack delivery for every project in the organization. To move to another workspace, disconnect, connect the new one, and then re-pick channels in each judge action and task, because channels from the old workspace won’t exist in the new one.

If Slack messages don’t arrive

  • Check that the workflow ran. A judge action only posts when its condition matches, and frequency and cooldown can hold a message back. See If an action didn’t run.
  • Check that the channel still exists in the connected workspace and is still selected in the workflow.

Organizations that run Judgment in their own cloud (BYOC) can’t connect Slack from hosted Judgment. If your deployment has Slack turned off, the Slack row doesn’t appear under Connections.

GitHub

A GitHub App connection, used to let Judgment’s agents read your repositories, appears under Connections only when it’s enabled for your organization. contact support if you want it.
